EUC and EB Extended -FAC Phasing Out

President Obama, on Thursday, July 22, 2010, signed a law extending the Emergency Unemployment Compensation, or EUC, program and providing full federal funding for state extended benefits, or EB. Some features of the new law:
  • It is retroactive, allowing eligible claimants to be paid for weeks of unemployment after June 5, when the previous law expired.
  • Certain claimants will remain on EUC if they become eligible for regular UC at a lower weekly rate.
  • EUC will begin to phase out on November 27, 2010.
  • EB will be payable through December 4, 2010, for weeks Pennsylvania meets the required unemployment level.
The $25 weekly Federal Additional Compensation, or FAC, payment has not been reauthorized. It began phasing out with the week ending June 5, 2010.
